Key points05

  • HD Hyundai Marine Solution has agreed to acquire Goltens Worldwide; financial terms undisclosed
  • Deal expected to close in Q4 2026 or Q1 2027
  • Goltens has operated for 86 years serving marine, energy and industrial sectors
  • Goltens will retain independent operations and existing customer relationships after closing
  • Sandeep Seth is CEO of Goltens Worldwide

HD Hyundai Marine Solution (HMS) has agreed to acquire Goltens Worldwide, an 86-year-old marine engineering and ship repair specialist, in a deal expected to close between late 2026 and early 2027. The companies have not disclosed the financial terms.

The acquisition brings Goltens' international service network into HMS's wider marine aftermarket business. For shipowners and operators, the immediate commercial implication is broader access to technical support across HMS's global customer base, alongside continued service for vessels and engines built by HD Hyundai.

Goltens will keep operating as an independent service provider after the transaction closes. The company will retain its existing customer relationships, technical expertise and service approach, according to the announcement.

What does the deal change for shipowners?

The agreement is designed to strengthen vessel maintenance, repair and retrofit support across the combined network. Both companies also plan to expand their service capabilities, with potential further investment in personnel, facilities and new technologies.

"This agreement creates an exciting opportunity to build on the strengths of Goltens and broaden what we can deliver for our customers," said Sandeep Seth, CEO of Goltens Worldwide.

Seth also emphasized that Goltens would maintain its independent service model and its established customer relationships after the deal completes.

Goltens, founded 86 years ago, today provides engineering and technical services to the marine, energy and industrial sectors. That breadth gives HMS exposure beyond shipping alone, into industrial and energy maintenance markets served by the same engineering capabilities.

When will the transaction close?

The companies expect to complete the deal in the fourth quarter of 2026 or the first quarter of 2027. Until then, Goltens will continue operations as usual, and customers can still contact their existing service teams for maintenance, repairs and ongoing projects.

For forwarders and fleet operators, the practical message is continuity in the near term: no service disruption is planned during the transition period.

HMS frames the acquisition as a way to strengthen technical support for shipowners and operators worldwide, while extending service coverage for HD Hyundai-built vessels and engines across Goltens' international footprint. If the deal closes on schedule, the combined aftermarket network will be in place by early 2027, positioning HMS to compete more broadly in global marine repair, retrofit and maintenance.
