Key points05

  • 865,000-square-foot, 80-dock Nampa facility opened Sept. 23, 2026, representing more than $200 million in investment
  • 11th Tractor Supply distribution center will serve 123 stores across nine states in year one, with capacity to scale beyond 200 stores
  • First Tractor Supply site to deploy an automated storage and retrieval system from Knapp; facility will create 500 full-time jobs
  • About 81% of merchandise at Tractor Supply stores in fiscal year 2025 flowed through its distribution network
  • As of Dec. 27, 2025, Tractor Supply operated 70 stores across Idaho, Oregon, Nevada and Washington

The 865,000-square-foot distribution center in Nampa, Idaho, that Tractor Supply opened on Sept. 23 represents a more than $200 million capital commitment to the rural-lifestyle retailer's Northwest U.S. growth. The 11th facility in the company's network begins outbound shipping this month and will feed 123 stores across nine states in year one, with the design capacity to serve more than 200 stores at full buildout.

What does the Nampa facility change for shippers and carriers?

The site opens with 80 truck docks and additional acreage set aside for future expansion. That combination translates into a step-change in regional freight volume and dock-door demand for inbound vendor freight and outbound store replenishment. The facility will create 500 full-time jobs.

"This automated architecture is fully integrated across the operations of the distribution center, including automatic conveying systems to store, sequence and move products safely and more efficiently," Tractor Supply said in a Sept. 23 release.

The Nampa site marks the first Tractor Supply location to deploy an automated storage and retrieval system from logistics automation technology provider Knapp, putting the retailer on a short list of big-box operators that have handed ASRS duties to a single vendor across an entire facility. The company has also staffed a dedicated AI innovation team that will work "to apply practical artificial intelligence to operational needs," per the release.

How does the new site fit the existing network?

Tractor Supply's distribution centers feed the bulk of store inventory. About 81% of merchandise received at stores in fiscal year 2025 came through the company's distribution network, with the remainder shipped directly from vendors to stores or customers, according to a securities filing.

The Nampa facility gives the retailer its first distribution presence in the Pacific Northwest. As of Dec. 27, 2025, Tractor Supply operated 70 stores across Idaho, Oregon, Nevada and Washington — a footprint the new DC can now serve without backhauls through West Coast or intermountain facilities. The facility's design aims to "minimize logistics costs and optimize the distance from distribution facilities to our stores," the filing added.

For trucking partners, the 80-door configuration and adjacent expansion land signal a multi-year inbound and outbound lane strategy. Vendors shipping to the facility and Tractor Supply's outbound carriers should plan for sustained volume at the site well beyond the year-one ramp.

What is the growth backdrop?

Tractor Supply opened 28 new Tractor Supply stores in the second quarter of 2026 alone, accelerating the need for additional distribution capacity.

"As more people look to embrace the 'Out Here Lifestyle' and we continue to open new stores, this distribution center will be vital to get our customers the products they want and need," said Craig Ledbetter, Tractor Supply's chief supply chain officer.

Ledbetter also framed the Nampa site as setting "a new standard for how products move through our supply chain" in the release.

Tractor Supply's 11th distribution center began receiving inventory in August, with outbound shipping starting in October. The dedicated AI team will test applications across store replenishment, labor planning and inventory positioning — work the company says will shape its automation roadmap for existing DCs.
