The Singapore-based carrier has appointed Martin Henry to lead technical and marine management across its fleet, effective 12 October. He joins from Taylor Maritime, where he most recently served as Chief Technical Officer.
What will Henry oversee at Neptune Pacific?
Based at the carrier's Singapore headquarters, Henry will run fleet performance, safety, compliance and operational standards across Neptune Pacific's vessel portfolio. He brings more than 40 years of international maritime experience, spanning ship management, fleet operations and technical leadership in European and Asian markets.
The role sits at the core of Neptune Pacific's shipowning activity, where technical reliability on ageing mid-size tonnage directly affects schedule integrity for shippers moving containerised cargo on intra-Asia and trans-Pacific routings.
What track record does he carry into the role?
Henry's most consequential prior assignment was at Tamar Ship Management, where he served as CEO. Under his leadership the fleet under management grew from 17 to 45 vessels, a 165% expansion executed during a period of consolidation in the third-party ship management sector. He subsequently led the integration of Tamar with Grindrod Ship Management, aligning technical operations, crewing and planned maintenance systems across the combined platform.
Earlier in his career, Henry held senior technical positions at Carisbrooke Shipping with responsibilities spanning global fleets. He also worked at CMA CGM in a senior technical capacity, covering newbuilding supervision and fleet-wide technical performance at one of the largest container line operators in the world.
At Taylor Maritime, his most recent role before Neptune Pacific, he ran technical operations as Chief Technical Officer with remit over fleet readiness and dry-dock planning.
What qualifications does he hold?
Henry is a Class 1 Chief Engineer, the senior operational engineering certification for merchant marine officers. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) and holds both Chartered Engineer and Chartered Marine Engineer designations. For Neptune Pacific, the combination anchors a governance structure in formal engineering authority rather than operational-only career progression.
What does the move signal for the carrier?
The appointment reflects a wider pattern across Pacific and intra-Asia operators: carriers recruiting senior technical leadership externally to consolidate fragmented in-house functions ahead of heavier maintenance cycles on older tonnage.
Henry's previous carrier-side experience at CMA CGM, combined with third-party management exposure at Tamar and Carisbrooke, gives him a dual perspective on shipowning economics and contract management. Neptune Pacific will look to translate that into tighter dry-dock scheduling and improved vessel availability, both of which carry direct commercial weight on tradelanes where charter options for shippers remain constrained.
With Henry in the Singapore post from mid-October, Neptune Pacific's technical function enters the final quarter of 2026 with a single accountable head. The compliance and maintenance cycle ahead through 2027 will test that structure.
