Key points05
- Samsara made Agent Studio, its no-code AI agent builder, free for all customers this week.
- Platform AI agent usage has grown sevenfold since June.
- Jordan Carriers, ~1,000 drivers, reported 30% fewer crashes after deploying voice-agent safety coaching.
- Aspertrum Foods cut manual HOS review time by 80–85% using an agent predicting violations up to three hours ahead.
- 30–40% of customers who build one agent go on to run two or more within a short period.
Jordan Carriers, a fleet of roughly 1,000 drivers, is running 30% safer since deploying Samsara voice agents for automated safety coaching — 30% fewer crashes in the coached driver cohort, according to Samsara's VP of Platform AI, Brendan O'Driscoll. The Mississippi carrier's result is the headline proof point as Samsara opens Agent Studio, its no-code builder for chat and voice AI agents, to all customers at no added cost.
Usage of AI agents on the Samsara platform has grown sevenfold since June. That's the demand signal: fleet operators want to automate coaching, compliance monitoring and driver communications without hiring IT staff to do it.
Agent Studio lets an operator build, test, launch and permission an agent in minutes using plain-language instructions instead of custom code. Agents can fire automatically — a truck crosses a geofence, the driver receives yard entry instructions — or answer on-demand queries about fuel efficiency, safety scores or hours-of-service status.
Why voice beat chat
O'Driscoll said voice has become the dominant format for physical operations, outpacing chat, because drivers and site workers need hands-free access to information. Jordan Carriers illustrates the scale: before the voice agent, safety coaching required manual outreach to as many as 140 to 150 drivers at any given time.
"The fleet is running about 30% safer — it's 30% less crashes they've seen in that cohort of drivers," O'Driscoll said. "That's a perfect example of being able to meet the driver where they are in the moment."
For a fleet coaching 150 drivers at once, that outreach burden doesn't shrink incrementally — it disappears.
What does this change for compliance teams?
Plenty, if Aspertrum Foods is representative. The food shipper runs an agent that predicts hours-of-service violations up to three hours before they occur, tracking remaining stops, drive time and total shift time in real time. The result: manual review time down roughly 80% to 85%.
The shift is procedural, not just statistical. Managers can authorize extensions or reroute drivers before a violation is logged, rather than auditing incidents after the fact. Compliance moves from forensics to prevention.
No-code as the pitch
The no-code design is central to how Samsara is selling this. Tasks that once required a data analyst or a multi-week IT project — pulling a fuel-inefficiency report, scheduling outbound calls to drivers with low safety scores — can now start with a spoken plain-language request.
"If you can think it, if you can ask it, you know, it will do it," O'Driscoll said, "and there's no middle person needed."
Adoption behavior suggests the product sticks. Samsara said 30% to 40% of customers who set up one agent go on to run two or more within a short period. The company's near-term focus is getting operators to a first use case — often a start-of-shift briefing — before expanding into fuel efficiency and safety scoring workflows as familiarity grows.
For fleets weighing the move, the calculus is now simple: the tooling is bundled, the builder needs no code, and the early crash-reduction and review-time numbers set the benchmark. Expect the first-use-case land grab — briefings, HOS alerts, coaching — to define which fleets compound the gains first.
